6th Grade Orientation Frustration!!
How can you expect kids to follow rules when their parents don't?
Christina's middle school set up times for people to show up for the 6th grade orientation, ours was 8 AM. We arrived at 7:50 am and got in line. This line was a couple hundred people long already. We saw people from her old school in line, their last names started with letters other than "A-C" and should not have been there yet.
An orientation that should have taken 1 to 1.5 hours took 3 hours. That was even with us splitting up and waiting in different lines!!
Some early birds even had the nerve to complain that their "letter" wasn't posted to pick up books, schedules and locker assignments...Hmmmm, I wonder why? Oh yea, it was not your time to be there!!

Rainy weekend...
Why did we have to pick the rainiest weekend of the year to make an overnight trip to Solvang?
I guess to be different :) We are going to have a blast anyway! Got Austin a heavier waterproof jacket and am on a mission to find one for Christina tonight. That will be tough. If it isn't turquoise blue she will not like it, that is her "color" this year!
We will be doing some Geocaching and consuming some pastries and cheese. Can't wait for Breakfast at Paula's Pancake House! MMMMMMMMM

This is a sad day :(
It looks like this is the end of the line for my Girl Scout troop :(
It fell apart last year and I thought I had it all pulled together for a great year this year and everyone has bailed on me and the troop.
It was so hard telling Christina tonight, she loves Girl Scouts. She ran to her room and cried for 15 minutes. I looked for a new troop for her last year when things were falling apart and no one had meeting times that would work with our schedules.
So, this is it, the end of the line so to speak, at least for her troop. I will still work with her as a Juliette Scout but it isn't the same as meeting with a group of girls and building a team and learning from each other and learning how to lead.
sniff, sniff

Geocaching...our new addiction
Thing of Geocaching as an updated version of the scavenger hunt you did as a kid. This hunt involves GPS coordinates and we get to play with the governments 12 BILLION dollar satellite system and we don't have to pay for it! How cool is that? This is a game where usually the only reward or prize is the actual find of the cache (pronounced "cash"). Sometimes you can swat GeoCoins or other items that are trackable. A trackable item has a specific number on it, you take the item, log your find online and replace it in a different location. Someone once set out 2 trackable items with the only stipulation that one travels only East and the other only travels West, they actually passed through the exact same geocache in Australia 18 months later!!
Here is a brief video of Geocaching:

ahhhh, the joys!
NOT! Why do 10 year olds think it is OK to stick their tongue out at their mom? Talk back to her? Scream, grunt and groan? If you know, please tell me!! I have had ENOUGH of Little Miss's attitude and she just got smacked and sent to bed. This is absolutely ridiculous and I sure hope it changes soon cause it is going to be the death of me if it doesn't!!

What a weekend :(
Not in a good way either! It all started on Thursday when Christina was throwing up. Then 4:30 Saturday morning it hit Austin, then me. Saturday night it was Chuck's turn! Glad to say it was quick and we are all over it!

It is about time...
It is about time to start this blog up again!!
I have been slacking for too long.
Last Saturday we went to Catalina Island! It was so much fun. Christina fulfilled one of her dreams, she saw dolphins in the wild, their natural habitat. We saw tons of buffalo on the island tour. What a great time we all had.
The trip 26 miles across the sea. |
View pulling into the harbor. |
Just one of the many buffalo we saw...even cute little babies. |
Austin waiting while the big kids were playing in the ocean. He tried it and said, "I don't like it anymore!" |
Art, Meaghan and Pete getting their "Wiki Whacked" at Luau Larry's. |
View from out dinner table at Antonio's. Beautiful! |

Girl Scout Day at Staples Center!
What an amazing time! Through the Girl Scouts we got to go to a Kings game but the best part was before the game even started! We got to ice skate on Staples Center/LA Kings Ice. That was pretty much a once in a lifetime thing. Everyone had a blast. I might add, Christina and I did not fall once! Check out the slide show for the pictures. Before the game started we all went down front to watch the warm up. Those sweet little girls were all over that, pounding on the glass to get the players attention. Players were flicking pucks up and over for the kids and guess who caught one...me! Austin immediately grabbed it from me to use as a teether. Perfect thing to use, hard and cold! OK...Imageloop is making me crazy so.....look all the way down for the slide show of pictures!
Halloween 2008
How cute they were! Christina was a vampire so I had no choice but to make Austin a bat! I made both of their costumes (without a pattern I might add!). Christina and Millie were only out for about 45 minutes before they got bored. Last year they were out for a couple hours and came home with pounds and pounds of candy. This year the amount was just right. Everyone was commenting on the fact that there were not many kiddos this year and it was a Friday night, very strange. Here are a couple pics of the kiddos....now if I could just figure out how to have the pics below the text!!!

I have been slacking!
What can I say...life just happens and get in the way of posting! I have some great pictures to post this weekend. Adorable Halloween Pictures and from the LA Kings Game on November 1st. We actually got to skate on the Staples Center ice before the game. Stay tuned for pictures to come tomorrow.

Chance of a Lifetime...
Christina had the opportunity of a lifetime on Friday October 10, 2008!
A day she will NEVER forget!
I got a message from Meghan at 9:30 AM, she wanted to pickup Christina from school along with her daughter Millie and son JT. She got an email for a special event that was happening that afternoon/evening. Meghan happens to work for Disney. As it turns out Miley Cyrus as Hannah Montana needed audience members for the filming of 4 or 5 music videos for her brand new, never before heard songs!! Oh My Gosh, how cool is that? Meghan and the 3 kids head south down the 405 to the Verizon Ampitheater in Irvine in Friday afternoon traffic. They make it in time and enter the Ampitheater. They were seated in row HH, which Christina said was a good spot. (Do you think that any 8 year old girl would think there was a bad seat???) Hannah's special guest was Mitchell Musso, a co star on the show. The girls were actually hoping for the Jonas Brothers. So at 5:15 PM Hannah starts performing as if she was in concert and sang each song several times for filming. Cameras were panning the audience so there is a small chance that Meghan, Millie, JT and Christina will show up in one of the videos. What a chance of a lifetime that any 8 year old girl will remember forever. Christina did not have the opportunity to meet Miley/Hannah but I know that she probably would have asked her when she was going to Menchie's Frozen Yogurt again!!

Christina's First day of 3rd Grade
It seems like yesterday that I took a picture of her on her first day of Kindergarten, and here she is...3rd grade already. She is into Pink and things with Skulls...
what happened to my little girl?
I must say, I do love this shirt though! Who would have thought "skulls" could be so cute!
My First Blog Post!
Well, I have finally taken the plunge into the "blogging world"!! I plan on posting at least once a week with family updates and pictures of Christina and Austin. I will start with one of my favorite Austin pictures. The picture tells it all....he loves his new adventure into baby food!
